Committee questions State Govt

People's Action for Change, Senapati (PAC) has raised several questions to Manipur Government regarding irregularities in the distribution of PDS items in the district.
In a press release, PAC said that utilization certificate signed by three Inspectors, District Supply Officer Deben Singh and DC PK Jha stated that October 2011 has been adjusted to April 2012 .
In this regard, PAC questioned what the underlying meaning of the term 'adjustment' questioning further whether there is any provision in this regard.
The committee also demanded reply on why PDS item for the month of August and September were not distributed even though Government record indicates that the items have already been distributed.
PAC further questioned why FPS agents of Mao and Tadubi ACs were not invited to deposit the necessary amount for October 2012, although beneficiaries of Karong AC had already got the item of the said month.
Raising question on where the PDS items for the month of February 2012 have gone, the committee also asked how long the Government would take in booking the culprits of siphoning off of 4000 quintals of rice in 2008 .
The press release further said that although 54462 ration cards have been distributed to the beneficiaries, not a single card reaches the hand of the beneficiaries.
Questioning why Justice Wadhwa recommendations are not implemented in Senapati district, the committee also questioned where the five Village Grain Banks, mentioned in the Government record, are located in the district.
PAC also requested the civil society organisations not to confuse public by issuing directives to resolve the issue.
PAC also said that the committee can provide evidence in this regard.
