MMWO to line up stir against corrupt MOBC officials

Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) will convene a public meeting on March 1 to chart out its future course of action to be taken up against the corrupt officials of Minority and Other Backward Classes (MOBC) Department.
Addressing a press meet held at its Hatta office, MMWO president FM Abdullah Pathen said that the organisation had submitted a memorandum and an ultimatum to the Government on July 11 of last year and February 9 last respectively seeking strict action against those corrupt officials of the Department and fulfilment of other demands put up by the organisation.
He reiterated that pressing the demands, the organisation had launched various forms of agitation including locking of MOBC office and sit-in-protest.
He said that the public meeting will announce different forms of intense agitation including general strike and economic blockade in pursuit of the demands.
He said that the ultimatum demanded the Government to initiate strict action against the alleged corrupt officials of the Department and recover misappropriated funds sanctioned under Economic Development Programme and several other schemes from 2010 to 2017.He also demanded the Government to upload details of the welfare programmes taken up by the Department for minorities and OBC and submit the beneficiary list in the concerned websites.
He further demanded the Government to produce a white paper on the fund sanctioned for minorities and OBC at the earliest and set up a separate Directorate for minorities of the State within 20 days.
He assured that MMWO will continue to work relentlessly for the rights of minorities and OBC of the State.
