Sadar Hills, October 12 2016:
The Kuki National Front (Nehlun) today clarified over the alleged abduction of some persons at Twichin allegedly by the KCP (Poirei) while claiming responsible in the abduction case of a JCB driver today.
A press communique signed by the outfit's information and publicity secretary, Gogou Vaiphei clarified "we have no connection with the abduction of some persons at Twichin by the banned organization KCP (Poirei) and not connected as alleged by Nongdam Development Committee which called a 48 hr bandh on Imphal-Ukhrul road" .
He said that the matter has already been made clear by the responsible group on that very day through electronic media.
However, the committee blamed one Pakai Kipgen, (whose name is not known to us) and James, which could tarnish the image of the C-in-C and hamper the relations between the valley people and the Kuki people.
Therefore, the signatories of the committee should clarify within seven days for sowing the seeds of hatred between the two communities, the outfit warned while asking the contractor along with the family members of the abductees to come up with clear inputs as to why and how KNF-N was blamed for the abduction.
Meanwhile, Gogou Vaiphei claimed responsibility for the abduction of a JCB driver, Anou Kabui, stating that he was abducted as the contractor did not pay any heed to the guidelines laid down by the outfit through a press conference at the outfit GHQs, Daitwi Camp through print and electronic media on April 8, 2016 .
He said that the contractor was informed to meet the party for mutual understanding but even after a lapse of five months none turned up for the same.
Rather the work was executed starting last month without any respect and regard of the of the party.
Gogou clarified that the JCB driver was not abducted for ransom as stated in some local dailies but to teach a lesson to those who are stubborn and disregard the stand of the party.
He also said that the contractor and the co-contractors should be held responsible if any unwanted incident happen to the abducted driver while adding that he (the abducted driver) is safe and sound in their custody.
The outfit also urged civil society organizations like Kuki Inpi, Saikul Gamkai and the KSO Island block not to interfere.
"Money doesn't matter, but prestige does", asserted Gogou Vaiphei while adding that as the negotiation is going on in full swing it will be wise on the part of civil bodies not to interfere.
The outfit also said that the 23rd death anniversary of (L) Nehlun Kipgen, founder president of KNF was observed with a two minute silence at Daitwi base camp.
Dr Napoleon Kremlin spoke on the topic "Why not separate Kukiland for the Kukis" in the presence of various civil society organization leaders and Church leaders.
