Imphal, October 12 2016:
Former Congress leader N Biren who resigned from the primary leadership of Congress party recently has categorically stated thatno hill people wantto disintegrate Manipur.
It is the political demands of some groups which have sown the seeds of hatred between hill people and plain people.
Biren was speaking at a felicitation function held to-
day at Kyamgei Mapa Ibungo Laibung, Kyamgei Mayai Leikai under the aegis of UFO Kyamgei branch.
It was the political will of the State Government which barred NSCN-IM general secretary Th Muivah from entering Manipur a few years back.
People of the State are now living like slaves in their own land.
The incumbent Government has been bending to armed militant groups every now and then.
Manipur would become a transit camp for large number of outsiders as and when the Government of India's Act East Policy is implemented on ground.
Many wealthy non-local people would come to the State and they would buy vast areas.
Some years later, a large number of indigenous people would be rendered homeless in their own home State, Biren cautioned.
Houses and other structures constructed by British colonial rulers have not corroded till date.
This testifies their far-sightedness.
People of the State too need to be far-sighted, he asserted.
He said that he resigned from Congress party only recently because a re-election would have been necessitated if he had resigned six months before the next election.
