CCpur, October 12 2016:
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh while attending the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Haokip Students' Organisation (HSO) here today has called for constant engagement amongst the kindred communities of the State to ensure that all the people of the State - both from the hills and the plain - live in harmony.
Ibobi along with MPCC (I) president TN Haokip and several of their political colleagues addressed the main day of the three-day long event held at Kholmun playground where he also unveiled the diamond jubilee monolith erected to mark the year of the student body attaining sixty years.
IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip released the jubilee souvenir.
Noting the clash of interest among the different communities of the State, the Chief Minister said that whenever there are any misunderstandings, things should be sorted out over the table.
It should be the effort of every citizen to ensure that despite the material differences, all can live together in a state of harmony.
He also recalled Jawaharlal Nehru describing the State as the Switzerland of the east.
Accordingly, he noted that it is the valley and the surrounding hills that make Manipur a beauty.
It is the duty of the people to preserve its serendipity - the greenery and its water bodies, he added.
The HSO's jubilee celebration that began on Monday night will wind up tonight with a Mr and Miss HSO contest with the chairman and vice chairman of ADC Churachandpur Langkhanpau Guite and Lalhossan set to grace the concluding function.
