Girl drugged in passenger bus, robbed

In perhaps the first of its kind in Manipur, a young Kuki girl was drugged in a passenger bus plying between Kangpokpi and Imphal and her mobile phone was stolen yesterday.
The girl aged 24, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that she was heading towards Keithelmanbi Military Colony in Kangpokpi district from Churachandpur district and boarded a passenger bus plying between Kangpokpi and Imphal at Khuyathong bus parking at around 2 pm.
She was supposed to stop at Keithelmanbi and stay at her married sister's residence for an exam.
However, she reached Kangpokpi DHQs semi- unconscious at around 4.30 pm.
Later, she was brought to Kangpokpi Christian Hospital in an unconscious state at around 6.30 pm where she was admitted for observation.
Speaking to media persons this morning at her sister's residence at Keithelmanbi, the lady NIOS D.El.Ed trainee narrated that when she boarded a Kangpokpi-Imphal passenger bus at Khuyathong, an unknown man aged around 35-40 years, thin and medium size and carrying one small bag also come and sat next to her.
The man said that he works in a Gospel Ministry having link with a popular ministry from a foreign country while stating that he had come to visit five to six family members who had recently come under their ministry at Kanglatongbi.
"The man talked in Manipuri language but he used to speak in English when he could not continue in Manipuri.
His English was fluent", she added.
After few a minute conversation he offered a cold drink (Likla) saying that it was too hot but the girl turned down the offer.
However, the man kept on insisting and the girl finally accepted and sipped the cold drink several times, she narrated.
The victim girl recalled that after a few minutes of sipping the cold drink she started losing consciousness and her attempt to raise an alarm also failed.
The girl said that when she regained consciousness at Kangpokpi she found her Samsung Galaxy J Max 2017 model missing.
She said, "I heard someone asking me where I am supposed to go and gathering all my strength I told him Keithelmanbi Ganggol Veng and I completely lost my consciousness again and found myself in the hospital late in the afternoon." Doctor who examined her at Kangpokpi Christian Hospital ruled out food poisoning in the case stating no symptoms of food poisoning has been detected and it was a case of drug intoxication.
