For his selfless exploit of saving three persons, John Lalditsakta s/o Edwin Lalrosiam of Tuithaphai village, Saikot sub-division, Churachandpur has been honoured with the Jeevan Raksha Padak.
Chief Minister N Biren handed over the award to John Lalditsakta at a simple function held at his office today.
The award carries Rs one lakh in cash, a medal and a certificate.
John Lalditsakta was selected for the award by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2017 for saving three women on October 12, 2015 who were struggling for life in a river.
Meanwhile Chief Minister N Biren today visited renowned theatre director Ratan Thiyam and former Manipur University Vice-Chancellor Hijam Tombi separately and sought their advice and blessings.
Acknowledging that Ratan Thiyam is a world famous personality and his contributions to the Manipuri society are immense, the Chief Minister stated that his brief meeting with the theatre stalwart was quite enlightening.
The Chief Minister also talked about development of the; State with Ratan Thiyam as well as Hijam Tombi.
