Prize distribution ceremony : MLA reiterates need to encourage students

A prize distribution ceremony for the 7th Kumbi Constituency level competition for Classes I-XII organised by the management committee of Sandhong Upper Primary School, Kumbi, was held at the school premises, today.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Bishnupur AC MLA, Govindas Konthoujam; Sugnu AC MLA, K Ranjit Singh; Kumbi Kendra ex-MLA, N Mangi Singh, Wangoo Borayangbi Zilla Parishad Member, M Brojen Singh; Kumbi Municipal Council Chairperson, W Priyoranjan Singh and Wangoo Terakhong GP Pradhan, P Baleshwar Singh among others.
Over 300 students of the Constituency competed on several competitions like essay, painting, quiz, elocution, monologue, debating, football, kabaddi, Grammar, Maths, GK, EVS, Science, Social Science etc.
The top three students in each event and category were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates.
5 students from each category and event were also given a consolation prize.
At the event, Govindas Konthoujam said that if all the Government schools in the State are active and dedicated as Kumbi Sandhong Primary School, then there won't be a need for establishing more private schools in the State.
He also lauded the Headmaster of the school, Indrakumar, who is also a National Awardee, for his commitment to impart quality education to the students of rural area.
Though there are many good teachers at Kumbi Sandhong Primary School, the school is lacking behind in several fields due to lack of Government attention, he said and questioned why the State Government has not reached out to the school despite it setting a target to improve the Government schools.
K Ranjit Singh also spoke about the needs to nurture the young students to become successful men and women and make Manipur a better place to live in.
Reiterating that students are future of the society, the MLA added that organising such competition will encourage and improve the competitive spirit of students.
Lauding Indrakumar for his dedicated services to the students of rural areas, K Ranjit opined that education system in the State will surely improve if more Government schools follow the teaching strategies and approaches of Sandhong Upper Primary School.
He also appealed the MLA concerned to look into the needs of the school.
