Senapati Police crack hit & run case, arrest absconding driver

Senapati, December 30 2019:
Senapati Police have arrested the absconding accused involved in the hit and run case that killed a student of St Vincent School on December 22 last.
The deceased identified as B Kamba (17), s/o Bing from Willong Khullen Village of Senapati District was reportedly knocked down by a suspected speeding Tata Sumo between Senapati Bazaar and District Council, killing him on the spot at around 9.10 pm of the said day.
The suspected Tata Sumo reportedly fled from the spot without looking after the victim.
A suo moto case was registered at Senapati Police Station in connection with the incident and concerted efforts were made by the District Police, Senapati District Students Association and other CSOs of the district to find out the accused.
The Senapati District Students Association and Maram Students Union had even urged the concerned authority to find out and book the accused according to law at the earliest.
On receiving input from a reliable source, a suspected Tata Sumo was found at Senapati bazar and was reportedly taken to the Senapati Police Station today.
On interrogating the person who came with the vehicle, the accused driver was revealed as one, K Kuba (30), s/o K Kaba of Lairouching under Mao Police Station, Senapati District and was arrested from his residence.
The accused reportedly admitted to have committed the crime.
It is reported that the accused driver will be produced before the Court tomorrow.
