Tamenglong, December 20 2018:
Even though the State Government is taking up all efforts to bring equal development in both the hills and valley areas by sending its officials in far flung areas, some of the interior villages of Tamenglong district are yet to receive attention of the Government.
Villagers of Mukti Khullen have many grievances which they feel should be heard by the Government.
Speaking to a team of media persons, who visited the village, a local said that the Mukti Khullen Primary Health Sub Centre has no staff.
Mukti Khullen Primary Health Sub Centre, which is about 30 kms from Nungba sub-division and covers about 10 villages in its jurisdiction, is lying defunct without serving any purpose.
The staff, the villagers alleged, attends the centre only in paper...not physically.
The team witnessed empty staff quarters and other establishments.
With the health centre not functioning as it should, the villagers have to visit other centres and hospitals in far off places such as Nungba.
Considering the need of the centre to the village and other neighbouring villages, they appealed the authorities concerned and the Government to look into the matter and expedite necessary processes to send staff at the centre at the earliest.
It may be noted that as per a list issued by Chief Medical Officer, Nungba on November 19, this year, it was mentioned that Khongshang PHSC and Mukti Khullen PHSC under Nungba Community Health Centre (CHC) are functioning while Longpi PHSC, Longkaipun PHSC and Gallon PHSC were listed as non-functioning.
On the other hand, Aben Primary Health Sub Centre, Nungkao Primary Health Sub Centre and New Keiphundai Primary Health Centre which are under Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district are there for namesake and the absence of staffs has troubled the villagers.
Interestingly, the villagers maintained that some locals are residing at the Mukti Khullen PHSC, which clearly shows the negligence of authorities concerned towards the centre.
Although the Government has recently reached the remotest village of Chakha in Senapati district with its Go To Village Mission, the condition of such health centres is yet again questioning the reach and effectiveness of the schemes and missions such as Go To Village and Go To Hills.
