SBI's USB (Ultra Small Branch) launched at Mayang Imphal

Under the joint initiative of State Bank of India (SBI) and Drishti Foun-dation, an Ultra Small Branch of SBI (USB Samushang) was opened at Mayang Imphal Thana Leikai from today.
The USB was opened with the knowledge of RBI under UPA Govt's flagship programme of extending banking services to every household.
Works Minister Kh Ratan-kumar and Mayang Imphal Municipal Council Chairperson Thokchom Rajmohon were the chief guest and president of the function.
Drishti State Co-ordinator Th Sunilkumar, Samushang Bitra Urukhong Gram Pan-chayat Pradhan Laishram So-bita and SBI (Kakching) Accountant Thangte were the guests of honour.
Ratankumar said that most controversies arising out of distribution of MGNREGS wages were due to absence of banking facilities in rural areas.
Setting up of such Business Correspondent services is a must in these areas, he pointed out.
Maintaining that people of Mayang Imphal and Wangoi areas have been facing different inconveniences due to absence of a bank branch, the Minister announced that the Government has completed the formalities of opening of a branch of a nationalised bank at Mayang Imphal.
