Imphal, April 06 2011:
Offering of floral tributes at the photograph of party leaders and scathing commentaries against the Congress-led SPF Government marked the 31st foundation day celebration of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was held at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of the state unit today.
Conveying strong desire to serve the people of Manipur, former MLA M Bhorot said among the political organisations, the BJP is the only organisation that has not been embroiled in corruption.
Expressing that BJP's objective is to set an exemplary political mileage based on transparency, Bhorot, who is also a former president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, alleged that existing state of law and order uncertainty in the State is due to inefficiency of the Congress-led SPF Government.
Further stating that BJP is the only political organisation that abhors muscle and gun culture, he also took grim note against the law enforcing machinery on the alleged lack of initiative to check violent conduct of license gun holders inspite of the fact that a Minister's son had recently misused weapon provided by the Government.
While condemning death of an elderly woman in Thoubal as a consequence of celebratory firing after India's cricket world Cup victory, Bhorot asserted that the incident testifies failure of the Government to reign in security forces.
Claiming that contrary to hardships endured by the people under Congress rule, the BJP while in power at the Centre had strived for overall wellbeing of the citizens, he called upon the masses to teach a befitting lesson to the Congress party.
former speaker of the State Assembly Dr H Borbabu highlighting contribution of the BJP and its leaders in the independence movement of the nation described the foundation anniversary celebration of the saffron party as an event to save the country.
Expressing concern that democratic ethos and principle under the Congress rule had been reduced to a parody by whimsical congress leaders who do not hesitate to abuse law of the land, he also maintained that BJP leaders' main concern is the welfare of the people.
In the presence of the hundreds of party workers from various districts as well as mandal levels, president in-charge of BJP Manipur Pradesh S Ibohal Singh applauded party workers for their dedication and service to the organisation and exhorted them for their continuous support in the party's endeavour to usher a new era in Manipur.
Among others, secretary (media affairs) L Bashanta, vice president S Tikendra, general secretary Th Shyamo Singh and secretary Y Nillamani Singh also spoke on the occasion.
