Women's body rejects MLA's SMDC

Imphal, June 30 2014: The Khaidem Loyalakpa Women Welfare Association has condemned the formation of a new School Monitering and Development Committee (SMDC) of the Khaidem Upper Primary School by superceding the earlier SMDC which was formed 2010 under the initiative of the local meira paibies in consultation with the teachers of the school and also local guardians.

In a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, the secreraty of the women association N Keinahanbi Devi alleged that the new SMDC was constituted under the initiative of the local MLA K Sharat Singh with his relatives as members of the new Committee.

Narrating the history of the earlier SMDC, Keinahanbi told media person that the earlier SMDC was formed on August 20, 2010 consisting of local meira paibies, guardians, teachers including the headmaster-in-charge of the school S Ranjit Singh and also ex Pradhan M Rajen Singh in an attempt to protect the school from further worsening.

Since then, the Committee looked after the affairs of the school, she added and further continued that in the process of monitoring the school, mismanagements were found on the part of the headmaster-in-charge including non providing of mid day meal to the students.

Keinahanbi also recounted that the earlier SMDC had a meeting with the local MLA on Feb 10, 2014 in which various issue were discussed in connection with the development of the school.

During the meeting, the local MLA assured that the fencing and necessary repairing of the school will be executed soon.

Contrary to his words, a new SMDC was constituted under his direction without giving any information to the earlier SMDC, Keinahanbi charged and also condemned the act of the MLA for his mismatch between word and deed.

She further expressed her displeasure against the MLA for his biasness towards the meira paibies and also condemned the MLA for his negative remarks towards students' body.

Furthermore, the secretary of the woman association urged the concern authority to replace the unqualified headmaster in charge Seram Ranjit by another one.
