The youth shot dead by Imphal East commandos on November 2 at Nongmeibung Nambam Chuthek under Porompat police station has been identified as an ex-cadre of the proscribed KYKL.
After quitting the banned outfit, Leishangthem Shyamsunder alias Ito (30) s/o Thambaljao of Thoubal Leishangthem Bashikhong Leikai had been doing contract works.
After he was released on bail following his arrest by security forces in 1996, he married two girls from Charangpat and Leishangthem Khong Manung respectively.
He was living together with her second wife at a quarter of Imphal Central Jail before his death.
After his release on bail, Shyamsunder was shot in the leg by the proscribed KYKL near mini-stadium, Ningombam.
Moreover, the identity of the youth shot dead by Imphal West commandos at Chongtham Leikai under Singjamei police station on November 2 has also been identified as one Arambam Ibun (30) s/o Kunjabi of Chingamakha Ahongshangbam Leikai.
It is reported that Ibun was a drug (tablet) abuser.
He was shot in the leg by suspected UG cadres in connection with drug abuse some time back.
Both the corpses of Shyamsunder and Ibun have been handed over to respective families after post mortem at RIMS today.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the corpse of the unidentified men found dead inside an uninhibited house located at Paona Bazar along Nambul river bank on November 1 will be handed over to Imphal Municipality for disposal tomorrow as no relative has come forward to claim it till date.
