Imphal, May 03 2009:
THE CONTROLLER of Land Acquisition, Imphal West district has notified that a survey will be conducted tomorrow at 9.30am on fishery farms located within the land which the government has demarcated for the expansion of Imphal Airport.
The notification issued by A Ibocha Singh, the Controller of Land Acquisition has informed all fishery farm owners to be present during the survey while also urging the Fishery Department to extend assistance to the Revenue Department.
Meanwhile, a public meeting was held yesterday around 5.30 pm at the Club's ground discussing the worth of standing properties within the demarcated land for the expansion of the Airport.
Taking strong exception over the concerned authority's step in conducting survey to standard properties without prior information to the public, the meeting resolved to appeal the concerned authority to halt the process.
The meeting also decided to appeal the authority to re-conduct the survey on standing properties within Dag No.13 and to conduct the survey to all standing constructions without any exception.
It also unanimously resolved to persuade the government authority to fulfill the resolutions of the public meeting.
The residents of the area have lodged their complaint that the inhabitants/dwellers have not been allowed to participate in the survey on standing properties of the area.
Security forces have fired tear gas to disperse the locals while the survey was conducted by the officials on May 1 and 2 .
Complaining that some parts of their households and cattle sheds have not been included in the survey, the locals have strongly urged the government authority to re-survey the properties.
