Ukhrul, May 03 2009:
The NSCN-IM has termed the Assam Rifles as resorting to reckless behaviour.
The NSCN-IM alleged that the 'reckless behaviour' of one captain Ganga Singh of Assam Rifles posted at Lambui-Shokvao village in Ukhrul district is unwelcoming.
"Under his commandership on May 2 at around 1 pm W Shimray deputy kilonser (NSCN-IM minister) of forest, environment and minerals was detained for half an hour while he was coming from Ukhrul via Lamlang gate," alleged the NSCN-IM.
The outfit further alleged that the NSCN-IM leader was openly insulted and humiliated in front of the whole villagers without any reason.
"This kind of highhandedness by an irresponsible officer adds more damage to the self-proclaimed disciplined Indian soldiers," said the outfit.
The NSCN-IM also said that in another incident the Assam Rifles under the command of the same captain Ganga Singh raided the house of Clement Lungleng of Shokvao village without the knowledge and presence of the village headman.
"The action and the motive behind the Assam Rifles is simply to disturb the existing peaceful environment in the area," said the NSCN-IM.
