Imphal, May 03 2009:
The RPF has declared that it would stop levying taxes on Manipuri people engaged in trading activities, goods and passengers transporters/transport associations operation in Moreh with effect from May this year.
A press release issued by the outfit's publicity secretary T Leisemba acknowledged that the people, although struggling for their survival under the alien rule, have been participating in the liberation movement by making monetary donation to the RPF.
However, the outfit has already stopped taking donation from some quarters/sections considering the economic plight of the people.
"Although the liberation movement requires money, the RPF believes that armed groups can have adequate fund only when the people have decent means of income", Leisemba conveyed adding that the outfit wished people to enjoy greater sources of income.
Admitting that the RPF has been living under the patronage of the people, the party conveyed its heartfelt gratitude to the people while reiterating its pledge to hand over the lost sovereignty of the land to the people.
The recent Operation Summer Storm in Loktak lake has clearly defined the relationship between the people and the militants, the outfit asserted while comparing the relationship between the two to that of water and fish.
