Prizes for plastic waste collection competition distributed

Jiribam district administration, Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC) and Friendly Environmental Warriors (FEW) Jiribam distributed prizes of the plastic collection competition at JMC Multi Utility Auditorium Hall, Jiribam today.
K Saratkumar Singh Vice Chairman Manipur Food Industries Corporation Ltd; K Puna Singh president FEW Jiribam; S Shanti Devi Chairperson JMC; Mayanglangbam Rajkumar Singh Deputy Commissioner Jiribam district; K Ajit Kumar Sharma Deputy Commandant 7th IRB; Thoudam Amurashi Chanu ZEO Jiribam and W Dinesh Singh convenor JUC attended the event.
At the event, K Saratkumar lauded the effort of the FEW, district administration Jiribam and JMC to make Jiribam plastic-free.
The competition was held in two categories- individual and group.
Individual category K John of Babupara collected 210 kilograms of plastic waste and bagged the first prize which carries a cash award of Rs 10,000 and citation.
Mongjam Babachand Singh of Dibong Makha Leikai collected 173.5 kg of plastic waste and bagged second prize Rs 7,000 .
P Bunu of Lakhipur collected 170 kg of plastic waste and bagged third prize Rs 5,000 .
Group category Emoinu Self Group, Dibong, Jiribam C/o Sanggoitabi Devi collected 221 kg of plastic waste to bag the first prize Rs 12,000 .
New Age Zonal Institute, Jiribam, C/o Hoinu Singson bagged second prize Rs 10,000 for collecting 96 kg of plastic waste.
Self Help Group, Jiri Sweeper, Jiribam, C/o Lucy collected 89 kg of plastic waste and bagged third prize Rs 8,000 .
Special prize winners- Gidion and party of Chingdong Leikai, Minthang Singson of Jail Leikai and H Bijita Devi of Dibong Ward No 10 .
As part of the event, schools which won the "Clean and Plastic Free School Campus" competition, organised by ZEO/DPO Jiribam on November 4 were feted.
The competition was held under 'Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan' on the theme 'Single-Use Plastic Free India' and sponsored by MFICL Vice-Chairman K Saratkumar Singh.
A cash award of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 were awarded to best three schools.
JMC sanitary staff were also feted at
the event.
