Free keyhole surgery camp

A two-day free keyhole/laparoscopic surgery camp jointly or-
ganized by the Association of Minimal Access of Surgeon in
India (AMASI), Shija Hospital and Comprehensive Health
Services and Research Centre, CHSRC has concluded today at
CHSRC, Ukhrul, reports our correspondent.
The camp was organized in order to provide the ad-
vanced medical treatment to the patients.
Laparoscopic can
be performed without having to spend much and the patient
can be discharged within 24 hours.
The objective of the camp was also to popularise keyhole
surgery in far flung areas and enlightening its advantages.
It also aimed to train the doctors and medical staffs of the
hospital located in rural areas on the keyhole surgery.
Dr Jugindra, treasurer, AMASI cum superintendent of
Shija Hospitals said that more than five keyhole surgeries
have been performed on the first day.
The medical team has
also conducted 190 free medical consultation during the
camp.
He said that stone cases are prevalent in the district and
cautioned that excessive meat consumption and drinking
less water increase the chance of stone formation.
