SFs strike it rich with 11 UGs arrest in 3 days

In all 11 activists of different armed outfits have been rounded up by security forces in between January 23 and 25. The arrested persons included four UTLA cadres, two HPC (D) activists, one ZRA cadre, two PREPAK activists and one cadre each of the UNLF and UPPK outfits.
a statement issued by PIB (DW) said, troops of 38 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector AR under the aegis of Red Shield Division apprehended seven UGs from Thanlon and Tipaimukh assembly constituency areas in the last 24 hours while they were trying to disrupt free and fair election process and intimidating electors in the area.
Four UTLA cadres namely SS Major Paolallein alias Dev, SS Cpl Sejan Mang alias Vikki, SS Pvt Kampu alias Wilson and SS Pvt Mangminthang alias Remix were hauled up from Sonthang village while they were intimidating general public.
One HPC (D) overground worker namely Ralupthung, who is also the chairman of Lungthullen village and Songte of Parbung, said to be president of Hmar youth association (Parbung) were apprehended from Tipaimukh Assembly constituency.
They were involved in providing logistic support and shelters for movement of HPC (D) cadres, the PIB (DW) statement claimed.
It further informed that a ZRA cadre namely SS Pvt Thuanminlun was apprehended from Bukpi area for his involvement in unlawful activities related to elections.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, one PREPAK and an UNLF cadre were arrested by troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 sector from Yairipok Yambem area of Thoubal district today.
Identifying them as PREPAK's SS Finance Secretary Sumalailatpam Sanatomba Sharma (40) s/o (L) S Radhamohan Sharma of Yairipok Laimanai and UNLF's (No.1646) SS Sgt Hijam Sorendro Singh alias Boro (32) s/o H Iboton Singh of Yairipok Yambem Mayai Leikai, the release said Rs 1,20,000 and one 9 mm pistol with magazine have been recovered from the possession of the PREPAK and UNLF cadres respectively.
Both have been handed over to Yairipok police station along with the seized items.
A statement issued by SP (IE) said one PREPAK cadre namely Wayenbam Sobhashchandra Singh alias Nongdon (29) W Tomba of Uyumpok Terapur was rounded up by a combined team of district police commandos and troops of 23 AR from the said locality on January 24 at a round 1.30 pm.
One 9 mm pistol with magazine and three live rounds have been recovered from Nongdon, who reportedly joined the armed group in 2006 through Y Jizit Singh (30) of Uyumpok Maning Leikai and Ranbir Singh (28) of Keibi Salam.
In another statement, the SP identified the UPPK cadre, nabbed by district police commandos and troops of 28 AR from Singjamei Naorem Leikai at around 12.55 pm of January 23, as Elangbam Kenedy Singh alias Boy (32) s/o (L) E Tomba Singh of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai.
