Imphal, January 25, 2012:
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has assured the State Government that black topping in 60 different zones of Imphal-Jiribam road would be completed within March 2012 while the remaining would be laid with WBM.
An official source informed that the assurance was given by BRO officials in a meeting presided by Chief Secretary DS Poonia along with Principal Secretary Works Department Ram Muivah and BRO Chief Engineer Brig Jay Ram as special guests.
Mentioning the progress made by the BRO in the last two and half months, chief engineer Jay Ram said that BRO could not take the responsibility to outsource the construction work as it depends on the decision of the higher authority.
BRO would accomplish the work efficiently if the higher authority decided to outsource the construction work, he added.
The State Government is also ready to inform the Centre on railway construction works following a BRO's statement tabled during the meeting on non-possibility of constructing two bailey bridges near the existing Makru and Barak bridges on the highway for transporting railway construction material.
