Imphal, January 25, 2012:
a sit-in-protest was staged at Nambol kongkham Leikai today in denunciation of an alleged attempt to abduct one Chongtham Dhamen of the said locality by unknown persons on January 24 night.
According to Dhamen's mother Amubi, about 4-5 armed persons barged into the house at around 11 pm yesterday and enquired on his son's whereabouts.
As the armed persons insisted on producing Dhamen even though he was not at home, subsequent commotion between the intruders and Amubi ensued leading to the locals growing in numbers and consequently approaching the house.
Upon spotting the locals the armed intruders resorted to firing about 2-3 shots before leaving the place, narrated the mother while adding that search by the locals resulting in the recovery of an empty case and a wallet.
She also claimed that the wallet contained an identity card which suggested that it belonged to 3rd IRB personnel RK Ibomcha s/o (L) Khoimusana of Nambol Thiyam Leikai.
Further stating that RK Ibomcha is one of the security escort party provided to a candidate contesting the State assembly election in Nambol AC, she said both the wallet and the empty case have been handed over to Nambol police station.
