ZUF rebuts NSCN (IM) statement

Reacting to the NSCN (IM) statement against the ZUF which appeared in daily newspapers, the Zeliangrong United Front has rebutted the NSCN (IM) statement today.
In a statement, the joint secretary of ZUF, A Ramroi wondered the NSCN (IM)'s claim of peace while meddling and taking interest in petty matter.
Stating that the ZUF is for the protection of its people and land, the statement challenged the NSCN (IM) to come out with prove over its allegation as anti-people.
Sema Nagas seized the land of Zeliangrong people near Hebron, Kuki militants killed Zeliangrong people on October 19, 1993 by pushing down a bus in a gorge near Kotlen and Sinam villages, but the NSCN (IM) did not show any sympathy, the statement charged.
In 2005, the Irang Bridge was destroyed during an economic blockade which caused the lost of life-line for the Zeliangrong people and the NSCN (IM) enjoyed to watch the helpless situation of the Zeliangrong people.
It further accused the NSCN (IM) of disturbing development process in Zeliangrong areas citing the termination of construction of Haflong Road which was started by the BRTF.
A bomb was shelled to disrupt a special development seminar in November 2000 in Tamenglong, the ZUF statement recalled.
It also accused the NSCN (IM) of giving no-objection certificate to Alphaeo agency to drill oil in Tamenglong district while charging that the NSCN (IM) of not caring for the welfare and protection of land and resources of the Zeliangrongs.
It also did not care when the Kukis or other communities occupied the Zeliangrong villages.
It further asked whether the NSCN (IM) is a legitimate one while also questioning what the Zeliangrongs have done to an extent that they could be dubbed as 'anti-Naga' .
It added that the Zeliangrong exodus during 1997 and 2001 as ordered by the NSCN (IM) had caused lost of lives and properties.
"Zeliangrong Ringtelo' is our slogan, and outsider should not interfere in our affairs," the ZUF statement asserted.
