Imphal, April 15 2020:
Human being is at present struggling to fight against a twin problem synchronously.
The outbreark of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has brought the whole world to check their capacity to come out from this pandemic global health emergency and security, said a statement issued by Iramdam United Food Producer Company Limited.
Saying that the dangerous virus has spread to many countries and took the lives of many people, it added that the State Government has taken up steps to prevent and control the disease by imposing lockdown.
People are facing a shortage of food as they are not allowed to go out from home, it said adding that even the farmers are helpless and have folded hands on their heads, watching their farm produces spoiling day by day.
However, in Manipur some of the farmer producers companies have assisted the effort of the Government in collecting those quickly perishable farm produces and other essential items and delivering the goods at the doorsteps of the people who cannot come out due to current lockdown situation, it lamented.
Iramdam United Food Producer Company Limited has its registered office at Kakching and has been operating since 2016 for the welfare of the farmers.
Saying that the Government has recently ordered to exempt the activities of farming from the restriction of present lockdown, it said that they have heard from a reliable source that the Government of Manipur has also instructed the respective District Administrations to allow the farmers to procure their farm inputs including oil/fuel for their farm machinery.
"But it is unfortunate that District Administration is not entertaining the genuine request of the Farmer Producer Companies which represent the farmers' group.
It seems that the appeal of Chief Administrator of the State is not honoured.
All the farmers can't go individually to District Administration as there is lockdown and they are not allowed to go out.", it said.
