200 N-95 soiled masks replaced

Imphal, April 15 2020:
After 200 N-95 masks meant for healthcare workers of Churachandpur district hospital were found contaminated with mold (fungus), the State Health Department has replaced the soiled masks today.
The N-95 masks were found to have mold on them yesterday, said officials of the district hospital who said the masks have been replaced with new ones by the Health Department.
Confirming the report, a source in the Health Department said the masks may have been compromised during manufacturing/supply.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Health Department presided by Chief Minister N Biren Singh discussed possible conversion of the under construction district hospital at Mayang Imphal to treat coronavirus patients.
The meeting however took no final decision on the matter, said the source adding the another meeting presided by Principal Chief Secretary Health also discussed the issue of shortage of equipment and medicines at private hospitals.
The meeting decided that Government may assist the hospitals get their supply of medicines by air.
On the other hand, Health Department is increasing doctors stationed at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) to screen the truckers engaged in ferrying essential goods, added the source.
