Sorry placard for lockdown violaters in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, April 15 2020:
The Ukhrul police drove with the lockdown violators in the town areas today and asked the perpetrator to hold placard which reads 'Sorry' .
They were detained for 2- 3 hours as initial punishment.
SDPO, Ukhrul Thotreithing informed that more than 200 town folks strolling in the town areas were detained for violating the lockdown and traffic rules in the town while some persons walking without masks were given free face masks by the police.
However, they were all set free after giving proper instructions and strict warning against them not to violate or repeat the same in future.
He said, Ukhrul police has been trying their best to make the public understand and follow social distancing rules and the lockdown enforced due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic across the state.
One must understand the services rendered by front line workers and difficulties while in fighting against the COVID-19, he said adding that people of the district have to support and co-operate with the authorities by observing the basic disciplines on how to prevent the spread of disease caused by novel coronavirus.
Police personnel were deployed in all the town junctions in order to ensure that lockdown is being executed effectively in the district.
The police are guarding day and night, check the daily vehicular movement coming from other States or districts, prohibit free public movement or gathering to prevent transmission.
While the porous border regions of the Ukhrul district were sealed off to prevent the spread of COVID-19 .
