NCC training programme kicks off

The
combined annual training camp
(Air Wing) for cadets of No.1
Manipur Air Squadron
(Flying) , NCC Group Imphal
has commenced from today and
it would continue for ten days.
The annual training camp being
held at NCC Group
Headquarters Imphal, DM
College campus is being
attended by more than 450
cadets from all over the State.
NCC Group Imphal has
been participating actively in
various society welfare pro-
grammes such as Swachch
Bharat Abhiyaan, awareness
programmes on the ill effects
of drugs and AIDS, anti-ma-
laria drive, women empower-
ment, adult literacy, voluntary
in blood donation camps etc.
The cadets also assist in
traffic control during major
events in the State like mara-
thon race, the Independence
Day and the Republic day
parades, and during religious
functions at the ISKCON
temple, during Christmas at
churches, and also during the
annual Sangai Festival.
The
camp will have various ac-
tivities including training and
preparing the cadets for all
India competition of Air
Wing cadets (AIVSC) at
Jodhpur to be held in Octo-
ber-November 2016.
The camp would also fea-
ture aero-modelling, range
firing including skeet shoot-
ing, classes on disaster
management, blood donation
camp, yoga classes etc.
The
cadets are also put through a
number of competitions in-
cluding debates and
lecturettes with an aim to
improve their communication
skills.
Trekking, para sailing
and adventure activities are
also planned for the cadets,
conveyed a press release.
It is also learnt that very
soon the Air Squadron would
be receiving two microlight
aircraft, which would provide
cadets with the opportunity to
have an air experience and
motivate cadets to join the
IAF as pilots.

ducting the camp for the
cadets who hail from all dis-
tricts of the State.The camp is
being assisted by HQ IGAR
(South) and its units.
The NCC, Imphal Group
units are also actively partici-
pating in the
"Swachhta
Pakhwada
" , which is an
awareness campaign to spread
the message of cleanliness
amongst the people of the
State from August 1 to 15.
The cadets of the Group have
been carrying out various
cleanliness drives in and
around Imphal city, it added.
