Imphal, August 09 2016:
Following the release of an in-
ter-State driver who was
abducted from Dimapur,
Nagaland, the All Manipur
Night Super Drivers Welfare
Association has called off
'hands-off steering wheel' stir.
Speaking to mediapersons
at Manipur Press Club here
this afternoon, All Manipur
Night Super Drivers Welfare
Association secretary N Jotin
said that Thokchom Inao (41)
of Khongjom Bazar who was
driving a bus of Zet Travels
between Imphal and
Guwahati was abducted by
some unidentified persons
from Burma Camp, Dimapur
in the night of August 5 .
He was released yesterday.
Jotin then appealed to all concerned to stop harassing drivers for reasons not related to them.
Thokchom Inao who was also present at the press meet
said that he was abducted and whisked away in a car (Maruti
800) by 4/5 people who spoke Nagamese.
After driving for around half an hour, he was taken inside
a house and he was locked from outside.
At first, the abductors accused Inao of feeding information
(to security forces) which led to arrest of their men.
The abductors released Inao at Dimapur yesterday after-
noon saying that it was a case of mistaken identity.
