Imphal, August 09 2016:
The United People's Front (UPF) has
expressed disappointment with Kuki Inpi
Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki
tribes, over the proposed 'Nampi meeting' of
KIM and has urged the same to cancel the
meeting.
The UPF's decision to urge Kuki Inpi
Manipur, KIM to called off its proposed
'Nampi meeting' on August 11 at Kuki Inpi
Churachandpur office, Tuibong,
Churachandpur was arrived at yesterday af-
ter a thorough discussion of the meeting
circulation .
UPF in a statement signed by its informa-
tion and publicity secretary, Thanglenlal
Doungel, said the word 'Kuki' connotes 22
ethnic tribes like Aimol, chiru, Paite, Gangte,
Simte, Hmar, Vaiphei, Thadou, Maring,
Moyon, Monsang, Zou, Anal, Kom, Chiru,
Mate, etc.
KIM's meeting circular was made
only in one dialect - Thadou, leaving behind
all the other tribes.
The UPF alleged that tribe leaders/coun-
cils including UPF have not been given any
official invitation for the proposed meeting
nor has any notice been published through
media.
The UPF has questioned why HTC
(Moreh) and KKL, Churachandpur, have
been invited to decide on the future of Kukis
and what legacy HTC and KKL have in the
history of the same.
"When HTC and KKL are invited, why
did KIM missed out Kangpokpi Town Com-
mittee and Saikul Town Committee?", the
UPF questioned.
UPF further demanded cancellation of
KIM's proposed meeting adding that the
front will not accept any resolution passed in
the meeting.
