Imphal, August 09 2016:
Numerous organisations have strongly con-
demned the two bomb blasts at Moreh yesterday asserting that the
blasts have disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of the border town.
In a joint statement, the Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, Kuki
Students' Organisation, Moreh, Kuki Chiefs' Association,
Moreh Block, Moreh Youth Club and KWU and HR, Moreh
said that two powerful blasts rocked the border town at about
7 pm yesterday, scaring the public no end.
The statement further said that the same type of blast
occurred at the same spot and time on July 19 and March 20
this year.
The HTC and KSO, Moreh had imposed a total
bandh at Moreh to condemn the blasts, added the statement.
In another incident, a powerful blast occurred at Ngahmun
village, near Holenphai village, just in front of the chief's
residence on April 20 this year at about 7.30 am.
The civil
societies of Moreh too called a bandh to protest the blast,
recalled the five bodies.
Even though no one knows the perpetrators of the blasts,
such bomb blasts are a threat to humanity, added the statement
and urged the Government to put in its best effort to stop all
violence in future.
Striking a warning, the five CSOs said that if the Govern-
ment fails to give any assurance that such violence will be
checked by August 14, then they will not participate in any
State and National events, including the coming Independence
Day celebration.
This will be followed by intense agitation,
they warned.
On the other hand, the Thadou Women Association, Sadar
Hills has also strongly condemned the bomb blast near
Kangpokpi in which two BSF personnel sustained minor
injuries.
In a statement, the women body said that the bomb blast
was aimed at disturbing the law and order situation in Sadar
Hills and added that various communities, including the
Thadous, Nepalis, Meiteis and Nagas have been living together peacefully.
Such act was carried out to create communal
disharmony, added the statement.
The women body also demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
