RIMS Director releases 'Save a Tooth' poster

Prof A Santa Singh, director of RIMS released a poster, 'Save a tooth' at Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Dental College today in the presence of Dr B Praveen Reddy, principal, Dental College.
The director mentioned that trauma can happened to anyone, anytime and anywhere.
Traumatic dental injuries is the fifth most common disease affecting millions globally with sports related injuries contributing the most to traumatic dental injuries, he added.
He added that time is a crucial factor for successful replantation of tooth and also requires prompt and correct treatment for attaining best results.
Dr B Praveen Reddy said that the International Association of Dental Traumalogy had defined a set of guidelines to manage traumatised teeth and improve the chances of survival.
If someone is with a knocked out tooth first step is to keep the patient calm, find the tooth, hold the teeth by the crown, carefully rinse it under cold tap water, place the tooth back into its place, if not possible place the tooth in a cup of milk/saline and if none is available, place the tooth in the mouth between the cheeks and gums and rush to a dentist within two hours of trauma.
