Statue of Nepra Menjor unveiled

Imphal, April 03 2021:
A statue of Nepram Tumbra Singh (1804-1867) popularly known as Nepra Menjor was unveiled today at Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai.
The statue unveiling ceremony was graced by Director of Social Welfare Department Ng Uttam as chief guest and YSSU/NMMC president Ch Mangi as functional president.
It is said that the statue is dedicated by the managing director of Radiant Group, Nepram Romeo.

Some notable persons who contributed in the erection of this statue include owner of The Sangai Express and intending candidate for the upcoming election from Keishamthong AC, Nishikant Singh Sapam, Sagolband AC MLA, RK Imo, Keishamthong AC MLA L Jayantakumar etc.
Nepram Tumbra is the son of Nepram Parshuram and Chongtham Chanu Shrimati.
There is one pond (Nepra Menjor Pukhri) and a locality (Nepra Menjor Leikai) at Sagolband AC which were named after him.
It is clearly mentioned in Cheitharol Kumbaba that Nepram Tumbra was a sipahi in the Manipur Levy established by king Gambhir Singh and was promoted to the rank of Menjor during the reign of Chandrakirti Maharaj in 1860.Nepra Menjor died on March 26, 1867 .
