Imphal, April 03 2021:
The Demand Committee on Creation of Autonomous District Councils (DCCADCs) has suspended its proposed bandh in view of the Easter Sunday and other related Christian rites and celebration.
In a statement, DCCADCs confirmed that the resolution was taken during a meeting at Tarung village today.
The committee, however, stated that the agitation and bandh will continue at any time if the rights, sentiment and aspiration of the tribal people living 'unequally' in the four new hill districts- Kamjong, Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal are not accounted.
Saying that the 27th March 2021 was a glorious moment for the people of the new hill districts which have no local self-government even after almost six years of its existence, DCCADCs thanked Chief Minister N Biren for the 'historic' Cabinet decision to include the four new hill new districts in the upcoming ADC election.
