Imphal, April 03 2021:
The JAC Against the 'Murder' of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu has demanded a fresh investigation into the death of Babysana in July 2019 inside a hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur, saying that the final report submitted by the CBI Special Crime Branch, Kolkatta is not satisfactory.
Briefing media persons at the residence of the deceased girl at Thangmei- band Maisnam Leikai today, convenor of the JAC, Laishram Gyaneshwori claimed that the final report lacks details and as such the JAC as well as the people cannot accept it.
The convenor also urged all concerned to make sure the four CBI officials who investigated the case are not engaged in the fresh investigation.
Claiming that the final report didn't mention anything about the blood which was detected in the nail of Babysana, Gyaneshwori contended that the blood (AB group) could be of the 'killer'.
It seems like the CBI is taking the people of Mani-pur as fools, she said and urged the investigating agency to investigate the case afresh.
Sapam Subhangkar, co-convenor of the JAC, also asserted that the final report could not be considered 100 per cent certain as there was an instance of conducting an inquiry against the former Director of the CBI in connection with a coal scam.
He then said that the JAC will soon send a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the CBI Director for conducting an inquiry against the four officials who investigated the case.
Further stating that the final report also came very early as investigation of one case took 3-4 years normally, the co-convenor also asked the motive for changing the IO of the case during the course of investigation.
Meanwhile, Lourembam Nganbi, acting president of Apunba Manipur Kanba Lup (AMKIL) has stated that the lup will support all forms of steps taken up by the JAC for truth.
It may be mentioned here that the final report submitted by the CBI on April 1 mentioned that charge sheet could not be submitted against the accused persons - Nongmaithem Jinnty (26), Kamei Ileen (54), Pheiroijam Robinson Singh alias Boicha (34), Pheiroijam (O) Longjam (N) Landhoni Devi (65) and Pheiroijam (N) Karam (O) Romita Devi (41) as no evidence emerged during investigation that their actions led to the death of the schoolgirl.
