5 Assam Rifles had spent around Rs 30 lakhs in the developmental works of Jiribam sub-division, since its deployment in February 2006.The developmental works included construction of community hall, bore wells and ring wells, toilet block for schools, community shed for handicapped children, renovation of orphanage and schools, provision of sewing machines and computers, water supply scheme, provision of jet pumps, provision of wooden boats and construction of piggery farms.
The projects were taken up at Babupara, Lamkhai and Railway Colony of Jiribam area, New Kaiphundai, Muktakhal, Lungchai, Sejang, Lungkao, Kaimai, Oinamlong, Paithol, Unchathol, Mongbung, Sonapur, Bahadurpur, Lalpani, Changjal and Maokot of the sub-division.
The unit also provided tin sheets, musical instruments, sports materials, organised Miss and Mr Tribal contests and conducted medical camps.
