Imphal, March 01 2016:
The Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) has suspended the total blockade it imposed along NH-37 since February 28 midnight with effect from 6 am of March 2 .
According to a press release issued by the JDDC, it decided to suspend the total blockade in response to numerous appeals made by different sections of people to this effect and in view of the ongoing Class X and Class XII examinations.
However, it decried the State Government's failure to take a concrete decision on the long pending issue despite series of sustained agitations.
As such, the ongoing economic blockade on NH-37 will remain in force until and unless the Government comes up with a positive response.
It further denounced the Government's alleged attempt to pull up and detain activists of JDDC under National Security Act for spearheading the popular movement.
