Sessions Court, Manipur East today reserved its order till July 17 on an alleged rape case of a mentally retarded girl by one of her relatives.
Accused Laishram Joykumar (44) was produced before the Court under Sessions trial case number 5 of 2014 with reference FIR number 71 (10) 2013 of Heingang police station under Section 376 and 448 IPV .
He is currently lodged in Sajiwa central jail.
Argument hearing of the case was held in-camera today.
After perusing the arguments of prosecution and defence counsels, the Court reserved the order of the case till July 17 .
Altogether, 14 prosecution and four defence witnesses have given their statements before the Court so far.
It may be mentioned that the alleged rape occurred on October 11, 2013 during Durga Puja festival.
The accused came at the victim's house when she was alone and allegedly raped her repeatedly.
He also allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she discloses his beastly act to anybody.
However, the girl told everything to her family members.
The accused was arrested by Heingang police on October 14 the same year at around 8.30 am after the family lodged a complaint.
Medical examination of the girl was conducted on October 13, 2013 at RIMS Forensic Science Department while the accused was also examined at the same department on October 17, 2013 .
The accused is a teacher and a secretary of a private school located at Pangei.
