Imphal, January 24 2015 :
All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has alleged that Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir is a communal leader and he has indulged in favouritism in the appointment of Director of Agriculture Department.
Speaking at a press conference, ATSUM education secretary Lovejoy Simrah said that although, Loius Ngasainao is the most senior officer of the Department, the Minister wants to appoint an officer, who is currently in the fifth place in the seniority list.
After G Shamu Kabui retired as the Director of the Department, the Minister appointed a junior officer as the Director of the Department instead of Loius Ngasainao.
The Minister asked the officials of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) to cancel the DPC for the appointment of the Director to be held on October 19, 2014 .
On the otherhand, although, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) issued an order to dispose the vigilance cases and departmental enquiries conducted against five senior officers including Loius Ngasainao, the Minister allegedly directed the authority concerned to appoint the officer, who is the fifth position in the seniority list, to the post of Director.
Lovejoy Simrah further said that major penalty was given to Loius Ngasainao alone while other officers were given minor penalty.
The whole issue has been apprised to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi by submitting a memorandum, he said and added that ATSUM would not remain silent if Loius Ngasainao is not appointed as the Director of Agriculture Department.
