Imphal, January 24 2015 :
The Pangal Political Forum (PPF) has condemned in the strongest term the killing of a 13 year old boy in police firing at Lilong Kaleikhong Makok, Thoubal district last afternoon.
Speaking to media persons at the Moirangkhom office AITC State unit today, the party's vice-president and PPF spokesman MI Khan said that the forum was deeply concerned with the excesses committed by police.
To open fire at bandh or general strike supporters or assaulting them mercilessly was something unwarranted.
It could not be a sign of good governance under any circumstances, MI Khan said.
It is natural for the public to raise their grievances and complaints in different forms to the Government.
But it was unwarranted for the Government to shoot or beat up protesters.
No public issue has been ever resolved in the State without mass agitation.
If Manipur police personnel were not given lessons on mob control during training, the State Government should re-call all police personnel for fresh training on mob control, MI Khan asserted.
According to international humanitarian law, police cannot assault students.
But in Manipur, it appears that police have taken law into their hands.
MI Khan also expressed keen desire to build a statue of Imtiaz Khan at the spot where he was killed in police firing or at any other suitable site within Lilong.
