CM Ibobi inaugurates SO complex

For the protection and conservation of Lamphelpat as a water body, discussions are underway for shifting away all Government offices in Lamphelpat area to the Secretariat complex, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh while inaugurating a newly constructed Secured Office (SO) complex at North AOC here on Saturday.
Attending the inaugural function organised by Manipur Development Society (MDS) as chief guest, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the existing State Secretariat would be shifted to the new Secretariat complex which is currently under construction at Mantripukhri and all the Government offices at Lamphelpat area would be shifted to the Old Secretariat complex so that Lamphelpat would be protected and preserved as a water body.
The Chief Minister noted that in a small State like Manipur, proper planning is essential while taking up any developmental activities.
This kind of planning is also known in small but developed country like Japan.
The Secured office complex which was inaugurated on Saturday has the offices of eight different Government departments with CCTV cameras, metal detector, X-ray machines, etc fitted in each floor.
The offices include that of Loktak Development Authority, Manipur State Power Distribution Company, Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency, Minorities and Other Backward Classes, Information Technology, Manipur Renewable Development Agency, etc.
Observing that the role of bureaucratic officers is very important in ensuring good governance, the Chief Minister said that the ideas and suggestions given by the bureaucratic officers are to form parts of the developmental policies to be formulated by the Government.
The Chief Minister maintained that his Government has been paying special attention to the development of the State including ensuring job to the educated youth.
Speaking as president of the function, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam called upon all for maintaining cleanliness at the newly inaugurated secured office complex.
Good offices and chairs are being provided to the employees for performing their duties with dedication and sincerity, the Deputy CM noted.
Project Director of MDS Ningthem, who also spoke on the occasion, explained that the circular office complex has been constructed by MDS as implementing agency since 2012-13 with funding from Special Plan Assistance.
The auditorium of MFDC, the cricket stadium at Luwangsangbam and laying of artificial astro-turf at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium, etc are some of the notablrks implemented by MDS so far.
