Imphal, January 24 2015 :
The 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI) will take place March 25-29 at Puducherry at a time when the country is facing a grave challenge as it is being driven to extreme rightist direction, both politically and economically, according to Manipur State Council CPI.
Addressing media at Irabot Bhawan here today, Manipur CPI secretary Dr M Nara said all the state conferences of the party are being organised throughout the country and Manipur conference is being held on February 13, 14 and 15 at Irilbung, Imphal East.
He said the event of the Narendra Modi Government as a result of the clear majority for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lok Sabha election marks a definite right-ward shift in the politics.
"As the corporate capital has staked everything for the victory of the BJP-led NDA alliance that was actively and aggressively backed by the RSS, the new Government clearly represents the combination of the interests of corporate capital, right wing ideology coupled with worst form of majoritism and communalism," Dr Nara said.
He said within first six months the new Government has bared its economic and political agenda by forgetting all its promises on curbing price rise, bringing back the black money stashed away in foreign banks, providing relief to the people suffering from economic miseries.
Dr Nara alleged that various wings of the Sangh Parivar are raking up different divisive issues to hasten the process of communal polarisation, the main political plank of the new dispensation.
He added that the five-year rule of the UPA2 was marked by exposure of big scams and scandals involving mind-boggling
amounts.
In Manipur, he said, the corrupt and insincere Congress Government has to be fought with the masses where CPI and other Left and secular democratic forces should unitedly come forward and lead the people.
"Sustained struggles to provide basic amenities to the people like water supply, public distribution system, proper irrigation and other issues confronted by the people will be taken up vigorously henceforth," he promised.
