Fishery department organizes liberation programme

During the first liberation programme of the 2nd phase of "Augmentation of fish production of Loktak Lake with stocking of fish fingerlings sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad, ten lakh advanced fingerlings of species Rohu, Mrigal and Catla were liberated into Loktak lak at Sendra point on Saturday.
According to a release issued by District Fishery Officer M Lokhendro Singh, the programme was inaugurated by K Saratkumar Singh, Director of Fisheries, Manipur in the presence of Dr RC Barman, Officer-in-Charge & Sr.
Executive (Tech), NFDB Regional Centre, Guwahati and Abu Shamim Ahmed, Consultant (fisheries), NFDB regional Centre, Guwahati.
The programme was also attended by local leaders, representatives of NGOs and officials of Fishery Department, Manipur.
