Seminar on "Skills development for persons with multiple disabilities" held

A one day district level seminar on "Skills Development for Persons with Multiple Disabilities" under Flagship Programme for North East Region was held today at Aimol Tampak Village Community hall in Tengnoupal district.
The seminar was organised by National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disability, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NIEPMD) Chennai, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India in collaboration with Asha Kiran, Kumbire, Manipur.
It was attended by Deputy Commissioner Tengnoupal, Manuamching, (IAS); ZEO Chandel, DI of School, Laishram Priyokumar; and M Kathiravan, NIEPMD, Chennai as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonboi Aimol, secretary Asha Kiran stated that the seminar was organised under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India to sensitize the teachers of SSA, District Council and SAMAGRA on discrimination against persons with disabilities.
Manuamching mentioned that it is essential for the society to acknowledge the skills and capabilities of differently abled persons.
Stating that different schemes and projects have been initiated by various departments for the welfare of differently abled persons, Manuamching appealed to the public to not discriminate and encourage them to move forward with their lives with dignity.
