Detox camp at Hungpung

Imphal, October 17 2012:
Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ukhrul has kick started a 15-day free detoxifi-cation camp at Shield De-addiction Cum Rehabilitation Centre, Hungpung from today.
The camp is being organised in association with AMADA, IMA, CBDAP, CONE and DOULOS.
Ukhrul SDO Leiyonphy, AMADA president M Pad-mini Leima and Khaivatang village secretary Wungnao were the chief guest, guest of honour and president of the opening function respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Leiyonphy expressed concern that drug abuse has reached a critical stage in the State.
Many youths who otherwise must be the future pillars of the society are currently indulging in intoxication and drug abuse.
In this regard, she stressed on the need to bring a society which is free from drug abuse.
For the said purpose, Lei-yonphy added, rehab inmates and addicted persons must in-culcate strong will power to give up the bad habit.
Padmini Leima exhorted the gathering for a collective effort to root out intoxication and drug abuse.
Later, AMADA distributed medicines to the participants of the camp.
