Imphal, August 12, 2013:
Stating that the act of ignorance of Ministry of Home Affairs (MAHA) and Manipur Government regarding the issues on border fencing along India and Myanmar border would not be good for people, Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) has stated that with the help of civil society, intellectual, and NGOs located at border villages it will not allow even an inch of land to be given to Myanmar.
In a press release, MUA urged to collect report of villages during border fencing enquiry from the owners of the villages to know the correct boundary history, and try to safeguard the boundary map.
The pata of L Molphei Village, which was visited by UCM tam during its recent border fencing visit is under Satang village.
Had reports been collected from Satang Village Authority/Village elders the correct boundary would have been provided, the release observed and informed that the India Govt/Manipur Govt which has conducted enquiry for the border fencing should not do it again unless an agreement is brought with Villages along the border area and the apex body of Maring community MUA.
It also informed the concern authority, civil societies not to conduct border fencing enquiry unless a permision is obtained from MUA/Village Authority.
The intention/reality of India Govt/Manipur Govt behind the fencing being done in the middle of Goyang Village making it half for Myanmar and half for India should be clarified publicly at the earliest.
Also it should clarify in which year the border demarcation of the said fencing map was done, else India Govt/Manipur Govt should hold responsible for any subsequent problems.
