Seventh Indo-myanmar Regional Border Committee Meet Concluded At Mantripukhri

The seventh Indo-Myanmar Regional Border Committee meet between India and Myanmar was organized from 06 � 10 Jul 2015 by HQ IGAR (South) at Mantripukhri under the aegis of Spear Corps of Indian Army.
A 19 member delegation from Myanmar, with high ranking officials of Army and Civil Government departments attended the meeting.
The Indo � Myanmar Regional Border Committee Meet was a landmark event which provided opportunities for representatives of Security Forces of both nations to discuss and resolve crucial issues relating to border management, bi-lateral cooperation and terrorism.
This forum gave the delegates a platform to brainstorm on crucial issues, exchange views and further strengthen the friendly bonds between both the countries.

The Indian delegation was headed by Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, General Officer Commanding, HQ 3 Corps and the Myanmar delegation was headed by Maj Gen Min Naung, Commander, North West Command.
They were accompanied by high ranking civil and military officials from respective countries.
Such initiatives will go a long way in providing a vital fillip to strengthen the historic relationship between the two neighbors.
Assam Rifles saves precious lives
Based on the information from reliable sources regarding movement of armed UG cadres in the vicinity of Indo-Myanmar Border to lay IEDs on MTNS road, troops of the 11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in the general area T'Minou village in Chandel District.
The troops during the operation observed a suspicious looking person carrying a basket and digging the MTNS road possibly to plant an IED.
When the person was intercepted, he lobbed a grenade towards the troops.
In the ensuing melee, the person was killed.
Two land Mines, one Pistol with magazine and a Grenade was recovered from his possession.
The area was further checked and cleared of IEDs and a major mishap was averted by this operation.
The identity of the individual is being ascertained and initial reports suggest him to be affiliated to the NSCN (K) .
