On several grievances, four Jiribam based students' bodies�AMSU, DESAM, MSF and KSA, have announced an indefinite economic blockade along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiri) from midnight of Oct 19 .
Speaking to reporters today at AMSU Jiri District Committee office here, the student bodies' representatives said that the Education Department has neglected schools and institutions of Jiribam subdivision.
They said that the agreement between the Additional Director (Valley) of Education Dept and student bodies' representatives reached a few months back has not been turned into action.
As such, the students started wearing black badges to school since Oct 1.Since no positive response has been coming from the concerned authority till date, the student bodies announced to sustain its agitation by imposing indefinite economic blockade along NH-37 starting from midnight of Oct 19 .
Lack of adequate teaching staff in schools, and politicising education are the other grievances raised by the student bodies.
Affirming to carry on the stir until the demands are met, the student bodies urged all concerned to extend assistance in their endeavour.
