ZoRO to celebrate Zo festival as 'Zo Kut'

The Zo Reunification Organisation (ZoRO) has in a recently concluded conference held to coincide with 127th anniversary of Chin-Lushai Conference 1892, Fort William, Calcutta, at Vairengte, Mizoram agreed to hold a grand Zo festival as 'Zo Kut,'a statement issued by the organisation's northern zone said.
The Zo Inpui/Inpi Socio-cultural Centre and Traditional Institution session 2019 was held at Vairengte Township in Mizoram's Kolasib district on January 28 and 29 with the seven zones of ZoRO headed by R Sangkawia attending the session.
R Sangkawia, president ZoRO general headquarters while addressing the session spoke about the importance of self-determination which the Zo people could achieve through the historic Atlantic declaration 1942 and necessity of fulfilment of resolutions of Chin-Lushai Conference dated January 27-29,1892 for unification of the Zo people under a single political roof.
He also made a clarion call for the cooperation and coordination to achieve the set goals of ZoRO and stressed on the importance of pursuing before the Union Government of India for implementation of UN Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) for the Zo people living in India, it said.
Accordingly, the session adopted a resolution to entrust the State Government of Mizoram to entreat the Centre for implementation of UNDRIP 2017.Beside the celebration of 'Zo Kut,' the delegates have also decided to continuously observe the raising day of ZoRO every year, it said, adding the secretary of ZoRO Northern Zone Thangchinlal Simte too, read out the printed speech of PS Haokip, president KNO and consultant ZoRO GHQ during the session.
