New Delhi, July 06 2012:
While the rape attempt of a Naga girl by two Naga boys in Mumbai some few days back was reportedly settled according to a release by the Naga Students' Union, Mumbai a rejoinder issued today by the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Delhi (PNTMD) has strongly condemned the release of the Mumbai Student Union.
The release stated that the union was apalled to see the press release by the NSUM (Naga Students Union, Mumbai) that came out in the Nagaland Post and E-Pao on July 3 .
While holding high esteem , it feels that the office of NSUM is partial to its members.
It claims that the Naga student office in Mumbai is governed by prejudice and misused by few individuals.
The stated press release of July 3, with its signatories, Raikhan and Odyuo have tactfully hidden the names of the culprits while the name of the victim is deliberately exposed.
The PNTMD accused that the Mumbai student unions have grossly misused their position and abused their powers in cynical disregard of the welfare of certain members.
Such reprehensible and irresponsible leaders are unfit to hold the office, stated PNTMD 's rejoinder.
PNTMD demanded that such officials should be immediately removed from the office to safeguard the image of the union.
The union maintains that is the moral imperative of every organization to respect and safeguard the rights of every individual.
Publishing such bias and irresponsible press release should be avoided in future.
According to the 'agreement" between the victim and the culprit , it was agreed that no public announcement or any press release would be made told the PNTMD President J.Hillson to the Sangai Express.
He further stated that the victims' identity were clearly mentioned in the press release, which was breach of trust and against gender bias.
