Imphal, June 28 2011:
The Tangkhul Peoples' Organisation, Imphal has strongly condemned serving of 'quit notice' by Naga Crusaders as well as the State Government's move to evict residents of Naga River Colony for construction of a 5-Star hotel.
A statement issued by the Organisation's president in-charge Ng Jonahson said publication of the 'quit notice' by the Naga Crusaders in the Nagaland Post daily on June 22 and setting of the deadline is not acceptable for it will cause communal disharmony in the State.
Though the publication was made by a fictitious organisation, it has spewed out deadly venom that has the tendency of spoiling the existing nature of the fabric which holds our communities together, Jonahson said.
Expressing that if neglected deliberate scheme by the so called Naga Crusaders will lead to unbearable strife among the communities and eventually lead to drifting away from one another, the Organisation called upon every peace loving individuals to make concerted effort for eradication of such evil schemes projected by a few corrupted minds.
Meanwhile, condemning the Government's land acquisition plan for construction of the 5-Star hotel, the Organisation termed the move as an act of social injustice.
Reminding that people of various communities had been peacefully settling for decades in the said Colony, Jonahson asserted that the Government overlooking its own vast land resources and trying to forcibly grab pieces of land owned by the poor people can never be justified.
